Pax 3 Vaporizer Review:
Is It Worth Buying?

Are you looking for a super portable vaporizer that delivers excellent vapor quality?

The Pax 3 might be the vaporizer for you.

The Pax 3 is the latest product launched by PAX Labs - and it’s a goodie.

The third in a line of successful and popular Pax vaporizers, Pax has managed to continue improving while not deviating away from what made it so great in the first place: elegance, ease of use, portability and reliability.

Introduction

The Pax 3 has quickly become one of my go-to vaporizers due to it's portability and ease of use. Whenever I need a vaporizer that is ultra portable and discreet, I reach for my Pax 3.

It's the ultimate vaporizer for bringing to concerts or events since it can easily be concealed and fits into pant pockets with ease.

If you're looking for an extremely portable vaporizer, that delivers exceptional vapor quality, you should consider adding the Pax 3 to your stoner arsenal.

In this article, I’ll walk you through Pax’s latest release, the upgrades made to the product and my overall experience with the Pax 3.

My goal is to help you decide whether or not this vaporizer is worth your hard earned money.

Design

The Pax 3 is almost identical to the Pax 2 when it comes to size. The size and weight distribution is great for portability and feel. It also means that any accessories bought for the Pax 2 will work for the Pax 3, which is a nice little bonus.

In fact, the Pax 3 pretty much looks like the Pax 2 and wouldn’t look out of place on your girlfriend’s makeup counter.

The only real difference between the Pax 2 and 3 is the switch from a dull aluminum finish to a shiny, polished finish.

While this makes the unit look more flashy and aesthetically pleasing, it also means that your fingerprints will be smudged on there 24/7, and unless you like polish your unit with a fiber every 10 seconds, it can get quite annoying.

How Does It Work?

If you’ve used any of Pax’s products before, you should have a pretty good idea on how this unit operates.

For those of you who haven’t before, all you need to do is open the magnetic cap at the bottom of the device to reveal the heating chamber.

Then you fill the heating chamber with the herb of your choice, shut it back up again and you’re good to go. The Pax Labs have also added the option of using concentrate. There is a concentrate oven that you have to fill, and it’s easy to remove as well.

To turn on the heat, you have to press on the button that’s centered around the mouthpiece at the top of the unit. You then have to select the temperature you want. This is done by pressing on the power button while the vaporiser is still on. This opens up the temperatures menu, where you can select from 5 different temperatures. 4 of those temperatures were available in the Pax 2, while a new fifth custom temperature, which you can control through the mobile application. If you’re using concentrate, it is highly recommended you use the 4th (highest) setting.

With your heating chamber full and desired temperature selected, the device automatically begins to heat up to the selected temperature. This is one of the areas where the Pax 3 has come a long way in comparison to the earlier Pax models. The Pax 3’s heating time should take no more than 15 seconds, having been slashed from the 45 seconds that Pax 2 users will be accustomed to. Once the device heats up, it will vibrate and turn green, allowing you to begin taking draws from the mouthpiece.

Mobile App

If you were paying attention, you might’ve noticed a little something about a mobile app. Yeah, that’s right. Pax Labs have also developed a mobile application to enhance your experience.

Through the mobile application, you have the ability to choose from a number of different options, each with different settings for a fresh but equally satisfying experience.

The five heating profiles are:

Standard - works normally.

Boost - keeps the oven hotter with less auto cooling mid-session. This profile is great for quick
sessions or if you’re a fan of big vape clouds.

Flavor - only heats the herbs when you are drawing, thus maintaining the flavor for a longer
time. The vapor is not as dense, however.

Efficiency - increases the oven’s temperature over the course of the session.

Stealth - cools much quicker than normal, allowing for a quick ‘stealthy’ hits, with little vapor and
 minimum smell.

My Experience

Overall, I've really enjoyed using the Pax 3 over the past few months. I've owned the old Pax 2 for quite some time, and had a good experience with it, so I figured I'd pick up the Pax 3 as well.

Right off the bat, I noticed it has some very noticeable improvements when compared to its predecessor, starting with a longer battery life. The Pax 3 has a super long battery life, especially when you take into consideration its size.

Another thing worth mentioning is how portable and discreet this vaporizer is. I've taken the Pax 3 to a few different outdoor concerts and events with no issues what-so-ever. It's very portable and fits in my pant pockets easily without being bulky at all. It's without a doubt my favorite vaporizer when it comes to portability. There are few vaporizers, that compare the to Pax 3 when it comes to discreetness and portability.

Key Features

  • Extremely portable
  • Great vapor quality
  • Easy to clean
  • check
    Solid battery life

Maintenance and Cleaning

Pax vaporizers have always been pretty easy and straightforward in their cleaning. Thankfully, the Pax 3 has continued this trend.

Materials begin to build up on the edges of the screen after around 10-15 sessions. This is generally when you’ll want to quickly clean out the vaporizer unit. You’ll have to clean the screen, wipe out the edges of the bowl and the mouthpiece as well. But every once in a while, you’ll want to do a full cleaning, just for the sake of maintaining your vaporizer.

You’ll need your pipe cleaners and some isopropyl alcohol. Wipe down the vapor path, clean out the oven and again, wipe the mouthpiece. The whole process shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. However, the process changes a little bit if you plan on using concentrate. The vapor path and lid have to be cleaned a lot more frequently, and of course the insert itself has to be regularly maintained. Pop it out of the vaporizer and into some isopropyl alcohol, wipe it down and viola, you’re done.

Accessories

Half-Pack Lid

It seems that Pax Labs were doing their research, since the one of the more frequently heard complaints from users of the original Pax and the Pax 2 was that the oven size was too big for single person sessions.

Those wanting to enjoy single person sessions would probably have to fashion a custom made stainless steel insert or would have bought a third-party accessory.

Now the Pax 3 comes with a half-pack lid, which essentially reduces the oven size and reduces the volume of wasted product.

Concentrate Insert

It’s been a growing trend among users to use concentrates instead of herbs, so again it is good that Pax Labs are adapting to the market around them and addressing these changes.

The concentrate lid has been working well thus far, and even though a bunch of different concentrates have been tried (some more runny while others have been more heavy), and so far nothing has leaked and there have been no messes to clean up after. The concentrate experience has also been quite nice, so no complaints overall.

Vapor Quality

One of the main strong points of the Pax 3 is it's vapor production. For a portable, it delivers really amazing vapor quality.

It's got pre-set temperatures as I've said already, which isn't ideal from the perspective that many models allow you to finely tune the temperature, however from a simplicity and ease of use stand-point, it's great. The pre-set temperature settings make vaping on the go super convenient.

I personally like the middle setting the best, as I find it produces the best flavor.

Tip #1 - Using a grinder to finely grind your herbs will allow you to vaporizer your herbs more evenly. This will allow you to get way more out of your stash, and also provide better hits of vapor in terms of flavor.

Battery Life

Despite not changing the size or weight of the product, Pax Labs managed to somehow increase the battery life of the Pax 3 from 3000mah to 3500mah, so an extra 500mah. While this change may not feel so significant, it can get you an extra session or two without having to charge your vaporizer, which can make a massive difference.

I'm typically able to get at minimum around 2 hours of usage with this vaporizer, however when I vape at lower temperatures I'm able to extend this by about 30-45 minutes.

Another little plus for the Pax 3 is the fact that it charges fairly quickly. It fully charges in about 100 minutes when it is completely empty.

The small size and improved battery life of the vaporizer make it easy to carry around with having to worry about carrying too much things or worrying about charging the unit midday.

Pros

  • Easy to use, even for a novice vape user
  • Simple controls and display screen which allows for accurate temperature control
  • Produces excellent flavor and vapor quality
  • Heats up quickly
  • Comes with an affordable price tag

Cons

  • Doesn't have a bag attachment
  • thumbs-down
    Doesn't come with a remote

Do I recommend the Pax 3?

Now comes the real question - to buy or not to buy?

If you already own the Pax 2, the price difference of about $50-70 makes it difficult to justify buying the Pax 3 unless you're looking for an upgrade.

If you’re in the market for a new vaporizer, you can certainly do much worse than the Pax 3. This vaporizer is perfect for anybody that is looking for a portable that can be used just about anywhere. This high quality portable delivers excellent vapor quality, and out performs most portables on the market in terms of vapor quality and flavor production.

If you're thinking about buying the Pax 3, I highly recommend that you use the link below. Unfortunately, the Pax line of vaporizers are some of the most popular vaporizers for knock-offs. So needless to say there are plenty of fake versions of this product for sale online.

I'd only recommend you buy the Pax 2 from a trusted source, just so you can guarantee your getting the real product, as well as warranty to cover any factory defects.

Conclusion

The Pax 3 is certainly an upgrade over its forerunners, while still keeping true to the original Pax values. The Pax 3 is aesthetically pleasing, consistent and most importantly, highly portable.

This device has quickly became one of my favorite portable vaporizers. It's the first vaporizer I reach for if I'm looking to vaporize on the go. This vape is perfect for the festivals and concerts I go to in the summer.

Did you know?

All of the products that I review on iMarijuanit are products I've purchased with my own money.

Yes... I've really spent that much on vaporizers. I've spent well over $10,000 at this point on my collection of vaporizers, dab rigs and other marijuana paraphernalia. I'm not exactly proud of how much I've spent on my habit, however it's made my basement the ultimate sesh spot for myself and all my stoner buddies.

My wife isn't exactly stoked about it though, believe me, she reminds me all the time.

The Pax 3 has quickly became my new favorite. I’ve owned many vaporizers in the past, but none compare to this one. Especially in terms of portability and discreetness. It literally looks like something right out of an Apple commercial, and the box it comes in even resembles an iPhone case.

Great review, thanks for posting! I figured I’d share my 2 cents too, since I’ve owned the Pax since not long after it was released. I’ve owned it for nearly a year now, and I gotta say I’m still really digging it.

It delivers tasty vapor, and has an above average battery life compared to other portables I own (won’t get into specifics as I don’t want to talk smack). Another thing worth mentioning is it’s just one of those products that FEELS awesome to hold. I can’t really explain it. The glossy finish it has feels awesome when you hold it. I get a strange level of satisfaction from holding my Pax.
